Live Project - Dining

For this project I worked with artist Mark Essen, owner of the studio Modern Clay. The project was focused on exploring cultures of production and consumption. This was my first time experimenting with ceramic processes and the theme was dining. We had the freedom to produce pieces such as usable tableware, adornments for diners, or decoration for a dining space.

I was interested in creating functional dinnerware intended to be used in a real life dining setting. My research and the knowledge I gained during this project informed my choices for the aesthetic qualities of the collection of ceramics I produced. In addition, I created magazine editorial spread mock ups using my photographs of the ceramics. This was to imagine my concept for this project in a real life setting, and to illustrate how I imagined this collection being used.
